LPG is safe when it is installed, stored and maintained correctly. These simple habits help keep you, your staff and your customers safe.
Daily habits
- Turn cylinders off at the valve when you finish trading
- Store cylinders upright, secured and in a ventilated space
- Check hoses for cracks, kinks or damage
- Keep vents clear and never block them
- Never use a gas appliance with a missing or faulty flame failure device
If you smell gas
- Turn off the gas at the cylinder valve
- Put out any naked flames and do not use switches
- Open doors and hatches
- Move people away from the unit
- Call the National Gas Emergency number on 0800 111 999
Annual inspection
An annual CP44 inspection by a Gas Safe registered engineer is the best way to make sure your installation is safe, and most events require it.
