What is a CP44 certificate?
A CP44 is the gas safety record issued after a Gas Safe registered engineer inspects the LPG installation in a mobile catering unit. Event organisers, market operators, councils and insurers often ask to see one before you can trade.
What the CP44 covers
- Every gas catering appliance in the unit
- LPG cylinders, regulators and hoses
- Pipework and gas tightness
- Ventilation in the unit
- Flame failure and safety devices
- Cylinder storage and secure fixing
Who needs a CP44
- Food trucks and burger vans
- Catering trailers and horseboxes
- Mobile pizza ovens
- Market stalls and gazebos cooking on gas
- Festival and event caterers
- Mobile bars using gas appliances
If your kitchen is in a building, you need a CP42 instead.
Why organisers ask for it
Most events, festivals and markets require traders to show an in-date gas safety record before they can trade on site. Without one, you can be turned away.
